Carnahan often tells students, “if we find any mistakes or things that we see as needing corrections you don’t lose any points for it.” Tutors help students strengthen various writing skills, such as integrating quotes, solving grammatical errors, and strengthening thesis statements. It is highly recommended that you visit The Write Place to improve your writing skills and work on your assignments. Do not hesitate to reach out to your English teacher or Mrs. The appointment scheduler can also be found on The Write Place Schoology page (Code: GZ28D-WVHHK) and there are QR codes in English classrooms to make an appointment. You will be asked to pick a date, class period, and you may request to work with a specific tutor (students often request a tutor they found helpful while working on a previous assignment). However, it is best to use the online appointment scheduler to ensure that a tutor will look over your work before it is due. To make an appointment at The Write Place, you can walk right in, and Mrs. There is also a printer for any and all necessary writing printouts. If you prefer to type on a computer, you may come to The Write Place and use a Mac. Carnahan said, “ be happy to look over anything” as well. Students may choose to use the space to work on their writing by themselves or meet with a tutor. Carnahan hopes that seniors will continue to come in and work on their essays for scholarships. And, if you're a freelancer, you also know the importance of getting out of the house every once and while to feel like a semi-adjusted, social adult. Bars, coffee shops, museums, and even trains are all spaces in which successful writers have been able to get some serious work done. Plus, it gets you out of the house and out of PJs (win), and can help you find inspiration when your muse has long left. I'm a writer that likes to be around people, to have fresh coffee and food readily available, and yes, plenty of people-watching opportunities for the occasional distraction. If you're like me, that "special place" isn't simply a corner of your house or a secluded office. There's nothing quite like finding that one place that simply lets you create and do your thing. Virginia Woolf had it right when she said that every writer needs a "room of one's own" to be productive. ![]()
